The Different Types of Sports Bets You Can Place Online

Betting on sports can be a fun and exciting way to add an extra layer of excitement to your favorite sporting events. But if you're new to the world of online sports betting, it can all seem a bit daunting at first. That's why we've put together this helpful guide to show you the different ways you can bet on sports online.

Fixed-Odds Betting

Fixed-odds betting is the most common type of sports betting. With fixed-odds betting, you're simply placing a bet on which team or athlete you think will win a particular event. The odds are set in advance by the bookmaker, and if your team or athlete wins, you'll receive a payout based on those odds. For example, if you bet on the Golden State Warriors to win an NBA game at odds of -110, that means you would need to bet $110 to win $100.

Moneyline Betting

Moneyline betting is a type of fixed-odds betting where you're simply placing a bet on which team or athlete will win a particular event. However, unlike with fixed-odds betting, the odds are not set in advance by the bookmaker.

Instead, the bookmaker will set odds based on how much money has been bet on each side. So, if more money has been bet on the Golden State Warriors to win than any other team, their Moneyline odds will be something like -200. This means you would need to bet $200 to win $100. Hence, look at Eat and run (먹튀).

Point Spread Betting.

Point spread betting is another form of fixed-odds betting where the bookmaker sets odds based on how many points they think one team will win or lose by. For example, let's say the New England Patriots are playing the Cleveland Browns and the Patriots are favored to win by 7 points.

In this case, the bookmaker might set the point spread at Patriots -7 and Browns +7. To win your bet when you've placed it on the Patriots, they would need to beat the spread by more than 7 points; if you put your money on the Browns, they would be given 7 points and need to lose by less than that margin for you to come out victorious; finally, if the final score were exactly a touchdown difference between the two teams (also known as a push), then your original bet amount would be refunded.

Parlay Betting

Parlay betting is a type of fixed-odds betting where you're essentially placing multiple bets at once and combining them into one larger bet. For example, let's say you wanted to bet on three different NFL games taking place this weekend. With parlay betting, you could combine all three bets into one larger bet and if all three teams won, you would receive a payout based on the odds of all three bets combined.

The downside to parlay betting is that if even one of your teams loses, your entire bet is lost as well so it's generally only advisable for experienced bettors who know what they're doing.

Future Betting

Future betting is a type of fixed-odds betting where you're essentially placing a bet on an event that will take place in the future such as who will win next year's Super Bowl or which team will make it to this year's World Series finale.

The odds for these types of bets are set in advance by the bookmaker and usually remain static until the event takes place but can change if there's significant news between now and then that alters things such as injuries or trade rumors.
